Ernest Elliott
(1894-1974) Ernest Elliott had a tailor's shop in Church Street and was also an extremely talented musician and entertaining performer of comic songs. He was widely known for his Human Marionettes, a clever combination of his own head with a stick puppet. Our panel shows a sheik on his 'camel with a hump, hump, hump!' He performed regularly between 1922 and 1957 and his acts are still remembered with affection. He appeared on television and before Royalty.
