you go in Market Harborough you can see the surrounding countryside as
the town sits comfortably in the Welland Valley. The gentle rolling
hills and copses of trees are very synonymous with South Leicestershire
as is the particular type of ridge and furrow which is peculiar to this
part of the Midlands.
The man laying the hedge is representing the fact that this ancient craft is not a lost art in this area. The cows and sheep celebrate the long farming history and the prosperity which beef and wool brought; the meadows and ploughed fields its fertility. There is a fox running across the hill as this is a symbol of Leicestershire.
