Market Harborough
|
Cavalier The King's Army under Prince Rupert visited Harborough about three years before the Battle of Naseby. The town was unable to resist a force of 1,800 cavalry who plundered the town for supplies and horses. The Earl of Stamford with Parliamentary troops ambushed the Royalists leaving 30 dead and recovering the booty. In the weeks before Naseby the town received the King's Army at least twice.
