Market Harborough
U3A Millennium Tapestry

The town Carnival started in 1931 and the money raised then went to the Cottage Hospital. This still happens today, but other groups and organisations benefit as well. In The Square and showground are many local charity stalls.

The floats are sponsored by local businesses, charities, groups and clubs who spend many hours making the floats which include one carrying the Carnival Queen. There are marching bands and people on foot in fancy dress collecting donations from the crowds lining the route. The panel shows Town Crier Peter Bruce, leading the procession. Market Harborough has had a Town Crier on and off since the late 18th century
