These baskets are on daily display outside a family hardware shop in the upper High Street. The shop is described locally as an 'Aladdin's Cave' and the friendly service obtained there has won several awards. Behind this shop and many of the adjoining properties were some the yards, rows and courts of 'hidden Harborough' approached by narrow entries from the street. Most of this infilling of every available space, however cramped, took place between 1810 and 1840.
