Paris
The latest spectacle in Paris is
Frederic Auguste Bartholdi’s Statue of Liberty. When complete this is to
be shipped to New York and erected in the middle of the harbour. This is
an absolute nonsense. A 151ft stern faced lady holding a lamp and a
book is ludicrous enough, but then to erect it in the middle of a busy
harbour where it will be a danger to shipping is the very height of
folly.
